The highly anticipated new Apple iPhone 5 is almost certainly expected to support both GSM And CDMA from a single phone according to new evidence. The dual-mode iPhone 5 has been rumoured before but now evidence has been discovered in the iPhones app usage log files. An undisclosed iOS developer has contacted and presented information and log files to the Tech Crunch website, supporting the dual-mode iPhone theory. The logs show data from a new Apple device, using the MNC/MCC codes from both Verizon and AT&T networks.Tech Crunch explains:
«The logs show that the app has been briefly tested by a handful of people using what is almost certainly an iPhone 5, evidently running iOS 5, sporting two distinct sets of mobile network codes (MNC) / mobile country codes (MCC).Those codes can be used to uniquely identify mobile carriers.»
However its also thought that the logs could be from an Apple test unit that has been released into the wild to test the networks.Hopefully within the next couple of months Apple will clear up all the rumours and launch their new update iPhone.
