What she is doing is bearing witness to the wounds on the sows, to the pile-ups of dead pigs who don't survive transport, to the the beatings.
Sometimes she screams for leniency against the pigs.
Sometimes she just imagines giving them last rites, for these animals with no rights in life and death.
She talks to the truckers, who call her a stupid f**king bitch.В (Heard that one before, alternating with 'hag').В Sometimes the truckers tell her of their nightmares.
So, there it is.В It's just amazing.В I wonder how many professors of animal science visit these slaughterhouse yards and take a look at the other end of what they teach and preach.....
One thing Catherine and I have learned at the Quit Stalling table: В that the guys at the slaughterhouse В don't even know that the sows are confined their wh*le f**king lives.В It's just one a*sembly-line job after another, called "farming."
A lot of what we do is just getting the facts and bearing witness--pressing these facts against the machinery of the university and the cultural entitlement to the flesh of other animals.
