PM Tsvangirai said this in the House of Assembly, while responding to Mbire representative Cde Paul Mazikana (Zanu-PF) on what action would be taken against Amba*sador Zwambila following reports about her behaviour.
«In light of the recent scandalous behaviour of our Amba*sador to Australia what is Government going to do with the diplomat?
«One of the victims of her actions, Felix Machiridza comes from my consti-tuency and my villagers would want to know what action would be taken?» asked Cde Mazikana.
PM Tsvangirai said Government expected diplomats to conduct themselves responsibly.
«It is Government expectation that the conduct of our diplomats should be of the highest standard.
«Ordinarily the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should be dealing with those matters, but I can a*sure you that the matter is receiving due attention and I think the relevant amba*sador has been asked to explain.
«If what is alleged is true, the necessary disciplinary measures would be taken,» he said.
Amba*sador Zwambila was posted to Australia after being nominated by the MDC-T as part of fulfilling the Global Political Agreement.
This is the first time PM Tsvangirai has spoken about the amba*sador’s conduct. The MDC-T has been trying to exonerate the am-ba*sador from the accusations she is facing, arguing they had not been formally notified about the allegations.
Amba*sador Zwambila first appeared in the media early this year after she allegedly stripped in front of three male emba*sy staff she accused of leaking confidential emba*sy information to the media.
On the second occasion Mr Machiridza, an MDC-T activist she took along to Australia after her posting claimed the amba*sador ill-treated her after he rebuffed her sexual advances.
He also claimed that Amba*sador Zwambila did not facilitate his employment in Australia as she had promised.
Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Amba*sador Joey Bimha recently said her fate would be determined by the three principals in the inclusive Government.
